 NetProxy 4.03

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving and optimizing NetProxy, we are pleased to announce the availability of NetProxy v4.03. This new release has many great new features and improvements over previous versions.

New Features and Fixes in 4.03
The major changes in the new version are listed below, in addition there are a great many subtle changes to improve performance and reliability, and a number of changes to the documentation.

  • Added a new RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) Proxy Service which provides access to the very latest multimedia Internet content via NetProxy. To take full advantage of this new feature fetch the free RealOne Media Player from Real Networks Inc and enjoy live streaming audio and video content from any machine on your network.
  • Added support for Windows XP themed user interfaces,
  • Fixed an issue with the SOCKS server that could lead to FTP file uploads being truncated (graphical FTP clients such as SmartFTP and CuteFTP were affected by this issue).
  • Fixed a problem in the Web Proxy Service that caused some images not to be displayed, or to be only partially displayed.
  • Fixed a problem in the Web Proxy Service that caused some web pages to be only partially displayed.
  • NetProxy now gives the correct 407 error response when proxy authentication fails, rather than the 403 Forbidden response given in previous versions.
  • Fixed a problem with DHCP table resets not being peformed correctly. This could lead to problems with the NetProxy DHCP Server under some circumstances.
  • Fixed a bug in the NetProxy Configuration Wizard that caused the Dialup/Permanent option buttons to be displayed incorrectly under some circumstances.

Installing NetProxy 4.03
If you currently have NetProxy v4.00, v4.01, or v4.02 installed, fetch the NetProxy 4.03 Upgrade Wizard. The upgrade wizard is just over 1.5MB and will update an existing NetProxy v4 installion to v4.03 in a matter of seconds without requiring any complicated setup changes or rebooting.

To install NetProxy v4.03 on a machine that does not currently have NetProxy installed, or that has an old version of NetProxy (prior to v4) installed, fetch the complete NetProxy 4 installation file (np403.exe).
