Goodness me, has it really been a month since the last update? Let's hope we've got something to show for it...

New versions of PC-DVR Server and PC-DVR Mobile

It's been a fairly quiet month for releases of the PC-DVR Suite. Other than a few relatively minor bug fixes, we've added a new "Nearest Postcode" widget to the Disk Replay application that shows the nearest known postcode to the current location of a vehicle based DVR. Work is now ongoing on some fairly significant upgrades to the product suite. Hopefully we'll have more news on that in a month's time in the August update...

GrokVNC Viewer

A brand new product release this month, and it's FREE too (my, aren't we generous!). GrokVNC Viewer is an independent implementation of the RFB protocol. It allows you to connect to a remote VNC server and take full remote control of that machine. Similar in many ways to Windows Remote Desktop/Terminal Services, but it will happily connect to a VNC server running on MacOS, linux, BSD, or any flavour of Windows. One of a number of notable advantages of our implementation is that there is a Portable Application version that will happily run from a USB pen drive, does not require any form of installation, and will not touch the registry or hard disk of the host computer in any way. This is ideal for support, or for situations where you need to borrow a PC to connect to a remote computer, but don't want to leave any hostnames, passwords or anything else lying around for other users of that PC to pick up.

PC-DVR Viewer for Windows Mobile Devices

We've received a few e-mails from poor lost souls attempting to use our state-of-the-art Windows Mobile application to connect to various other vendor's DVR products. This won't work - you need to be running an up-to-date version of our PC-DVR Server or the vehicle-based PC-DVR Mobile products in order to view live video and track vehicles from your Windows Mobile Phone. You'll be wasting your time in trying to get this software working with any other DVR product. See the demonstration video for a look at what's possible when you have a suitable setup.
