It's been a busy month at the sweat-shop for us here in Grokland. Not only have we finally got around to scraping the mould off the web server and updating this web site, but there are a number of new and updated products for your delectation....
The latest addition to the PC-DVR suite of software is a client application for Windows Mobile phones (that's "cell phones" to those of you in Leftpondia). This allows you to stream live video to your phone from your internet-connected DVRs from anywhere you can get a decent phone signal. You can even control Pan & Tilt cameras remotely from your phone and do a whole host of other groovy things. It's free of charge too. Can't be bad, eh? Check out this hastily-cobbled-together demonstration video for more information.
The DVR server applications themselves have received a number of updates this month. Both the static and mobile apps have been updated to support the mobile phone client mentioned above. We've also improved the remote authentication scheme - it's now cryptographically secure rather than sending login passwords in the clear as was the case previously. There are a number of other improvements and fixes included which you can read about by following the link below.
Earlier this month, we learned of an attempt to crack the (not particularly complex, if the truth be told) software licensing scheme in our PC-DVR products. Surprisingly, it was a potential reseller of our products who modified the binary in a botched attempt to circumvent the product licensing system. Come on guys! If you steal the software then we have no revenue stream, and if we have no revenue stream then there'll be no new software for you to steal.
We'll be keeping a close eye on the culprits from now on. A "name and shame" policy, followed by a visit from Big Al The Leveller with his baseball bat and industrial-sized tub of vaseline is set to ensue if the criminal activity recurs...
It is our firm intention to update this site regularly with the goings-on here in Grokland. Let's see how long that lasts, shall we?...
I don't know who these chaps are. They certainly look professional though, don't they?
